3 Bets I Love in the Ohio State vs. Ohio Matchup

Ohio heads to The Shoe as 29.5-point underdogs against the No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. On paper, this should be another comfortable win for Ryan Day’s team. But don’t overlook the Bobcats — they’re a scrappy group that should provide a tougher test than Grambling State.

If you’re looking to get some action on this game, here are three bets I like heading into the matchup:

    1. WHALE PLAY: Max Klare Anytime Touchdown

Max Klare was one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal this offseason, and his potential in this Buckeye offense is sky-high. So far, though, his Ohio State career has gotten off to a quiet start — just two receptions for 18 yards.

Ryan Day mentioned this week that Klare is still adjusting to the physicality of Ohio State practices, but reading between the lines, it sounds like the staff is ready to feature him more. Look for a concerted effort to get Klare involved early and often.

This feels like the breakout game. Klare finds the end zone. Book it.

    2. Julian Sayin OVER 255.5 Passing Yards

Outside of one mistake last week, Sayin looked flawless. Brian Hartline has started to open up the playbook and let his freshman QB sling it around, and with weapons like Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss, this offense is built to air it out.

Ohio’s defense comes in ranked 64th nationally against the pass — and they haven’t seen anything close to this level of talent. Sayin should keep stacking big numbers, and 255.5 feels a little light given the firepower around him.

    3. Carnell Tate OVER 55.5 Receiving Yards

When you line up next to Jeremiah Smith, life as a WR2 gets a whole lot easier. Every defense that faces the Buckeyes will key in on Smith, which leaves Tate with favorable matchups.

Ohio’s secondary isn’t built to keep pace with this group, and Tate’s line sits at just 55.5 yards. With Smith drawing most of the attention, expect Tate to make the most of his opportunities.

    Final Thoughts

Ohio State should cruise, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t money to be made on individual player props. Klare is primed for his first big Buckeye moment, Sayin should continue to carve up defenses, and Tate is in line for a productive day working alongside Smith.

Lock these three in — and enjoy the show in Columbus.
