Noelvi Marte Dominican Winter League Over The Years

Cited in a Charlie Goldsmith article on his personal substack, Nick Krall confirmed that Noelvi will be adding to his 2025 usage and playing right field for a team in the Dominican Winter League. Noelvi Marte had an impressive run on his 2025 campaign posting a solid 1.4 bWAR in 90 games at the MLB level.

Noelvi Marte has played for the Gigantes del Cibao each year he’s played in the DoWL. He’s logged over 30 games for them over the years, even as early as this previous season, where he hit a homer and had a few XBHs for them. You can view his stats here.

Why Wouldn’t He Get Some Time Off?

The answer to this question is, he’s still very raw in Right Field and this is the exact reason they want him playing in the Winter League. He took the necessary leap to taking over right field for the Reds and it ended up looking like a good move for Noelvi, as he ended up faring well defensively there. Although he was graded a ‘negative’ defender with -1 OAA, that is actually spectacular considering the mid-season change.

Cincinnati Reds RF Noelvi Marte robs a homerun against the Pittsburgh Pirates

Like the image above, Noelvi has had some really nice catches where he looks great. The homerun robbery was icing on the cake when it comes to his potential in the outfield. It’s safe to say the Cincinnati Reds feel like they finally, finally… have plugged the right field hole. Next we need Noelvi Marte to start hitting left handed pitching better, and working walks, and the Reds will have their next super star.
