Phil Castellini Booed Off The Court at Xavier Game

This Reds offseason has been underwhelming.

When you finally make the playoffs for the first time in 5 years and you have one of the hottest up and coming stars in the game in Elly De La Cruz, one would think this would be every reason in the world to be agreessive.

From the words of the great Lee Corso, “not so fast.”

The Reds have gone about the 2026 offseason exactly how you would expect them.

They sell us the fans a load of BS trying to convince us they truly do care about winning and building a championship team when each and every one of us know that is the farthest thing from the truth.

Making the playoffs last season was fun. But there was a clear issue. A glaring issue.

    The offense was horrible.

And what have the Reds done this offseason? Well… they’re running it back with the same guys who were HORRIBLE last year.

To make matters worse, Middletown product Kyle Schwarber, was on the market and made it about as obvious as he possibly could that he would love to play for his hometown Cincinnati Reds.

Ownership and management made it seem like they were trying for him, trying to float rumors out there that they did make him an offer, but he choose to return back to Philiadelphia.

Many Reds fans believe an offer didn’t exist. We may never know, but I think I know what side I am on.

All of this boils down to one thing: Reds fans are pissed off.

On Tuesday night, January 14th, Xavier hosted Butler in a men’s college basketball game. Before the game, the Reds and Xavier were recognized for their new 10-year partnership.

Once the mic went to Reds President and CEO Phil Castellini, the fans erupted into boos. It was so bad, you just have to know how much of a moron he felt like having 10s of thousands of fans just drowning out any BS words you’re putting out by boos.

    Fans are done.

People of Cincinnati are beyond tired of seeing stars come into their city who are high-level players that can bring home championships. And when ownership’s actions don’t align with aggression to build the teams around them, fans get upset.

They have every right to be upset.

Here’s to not a whole lot changing as we head into the 2026 season, but at least fans got their feel good moment to boo Phil Castellini the hell off the court.
