JJ Bleday Has Been A $1.4M STEAL.

The Cincinnati Reds are no shy organization of taking chances on ‘failed’ prospects and cashing in on them. JJ Bleday is the latest and greatest example, even though he spent the first month of the season in AAA Louisville, he has been quite the catch for the Redlegs in Cincinnati, Ohio and just continues to show how much of an impact he can make. He’s arguably been the Reds best offensive player outside of Elly De La Cruz, and there hasn’t been many slow games to state he’s slowing down, either. From AAA Louisville To A DAILY Pencil In – JJ Bleday Continues To Shine

JJ Bleday was the odd man out from Spring Training, even though he posted fine numbers there, too, the Reds went with the more familiar face, Will Benson, instead of he to break camp, even though we listed him a non-tender candidate. That hasn’t proven to be a wise decision by the Reds brass, as JJ has taken the Redlegs, and the whole Major League Baseball by storm.

JJ Bleday has been nothing short of incredible for the Cincinnati Reds so far this season, emerging as one of the club’s most reliable offensive contributors and a major catalyst in the lineup. The talented outfielder has consistently delivered quality at-bats, showcased impressive power, and provided the Reds with much-needed run production during key moments throughout the year. Whether he’s driving balls into the gaps, launching homers, or finding ways to get on base, Bleday has quickly become a difference-maker for Cincinnati. His combination of discipline, consistency, and defensive value has helped solidify his role as an important piece of the Reds’ playoff aspirations, while continuing to prove why the organization believed in his long-term potential when they signed him as a Free Agent in the Winter.

JJ Bleday’s 2026 Campaign

Bleday is having what is not even debatable – a career year. Just so happens that the Reds are the lucky ones profiting off of it. Signed for a very honest 1/$1,400,000, it shows the Reds profiting even more. The best part is, JJ Bleday is just slated to hit arbitration for the first time next year, so his production will be affordable for the Reds even after this year.

His insane slash line of .303/.398/.642/1.041(!!) has carried the Reds night in and night out, especially on Sunday where he amassed half the Reds production. In 128 PA’s in ’26, he has 9 homers, 8 doubles, and 1 triple good for 18 XBHs. What’s stuck out the most is his discipline, walking 18 times compared to 22 strikeouts. He has an 182 OPS+ which if qualified, would be amongst top 10 in MLB! What a pleasant surprise this guy has been for us, he has exceeded any expectations even if he ‘comes back to life’ quite a bit, which I think is a fair expectation.

Another Diamond in the Rough Find for Cincinnati

JJ Bleday adds to the list of low risk, high value cash ins for the Reds. Unfortunately, this has been the only spot in free agency they’ve been able to find some real playmakers, but we’ll certainly take it. Bleday has stapled himself as the future and current Reds leftfielder. TJ Friedl definitely emerges as the odd man out.
