Jameis Winston – The Perfect QB For Cincinnati? No. The Other Guy Is.

Russell Wilson Is A better Option.

The Cincinnati Bengals, as we know, are without their star quarterback Joe Burrow, likely for the whole season. But with the way the season is panning out, why on earth wouldn’t they go and trade for a guy that can actually win some games? We know Jake Browning is not that guy. His 2023 magic has ended. Aura gone. Time to go get somebody else. Jameis Winston? No. Shoot higher. Way higher. Update to article: as we know now, the Bengals made a DIFFERENT move: https://natisports.net/2025/10/07/joe-flacco-is-playing-football-in-cincinnati-now/

Jameis Winston Is Fun And Cheap, But He Is Who He Is

We all know and acknowledge Jameis Winston as this fun loving dude who likes to ‘eat W’s’ and all, but dude, his career speaks for itself. He matches his touchdown total with his interception total year over year. He’s not known to be the smartest dude in the room, meaning he likely won’t step into a complicated offense and be fine, and not only that, isn’t the idea of getting a different QB in the building to…win games? He hasn’t done that in a long, long time.

So, no. Don’t go trade for Jameis Winston, trade for his teammate. A guy that has actually won. Played in the ‘big games’ – and although Jameis will be ‘cheaper’ — I don’t care. Mike Brown & the Cincinnati Bengals are worth $4.5B, interest rates are going down, they can afford AND have space in the cap to get Russ.

Dating back to last season, Jameis Winston has totaled 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. That was his last time of significant playing time. Sure, you can likely get him for a 7th round pick, but let’s aim higher, man… way higher.

Russell Wilson Sounds A WHOLE Lot Better

The New York Giants are a disasterclass, once again, at 1-4 and per usual. They are playing in a way tougher division, according to Tankathon, have a top 10 hardest schedule remaining with a .572 opponent win %, they will absolutely listen to Russell Wilson offers, whom is signed to a one year deal. This is who the Bengals should be going after.

Pairing Russell Wilson with the Cincinnati Bengals could ignite a playoff push amid Joe Burrow’s season-ending injury, offering a proven veteran quarterback to stabilize Jake Browning’s shaky start and revive a sputtering offense that’s dropped the team to 2-2. As a Cincinnati native (Born at THE Christ Hospital) and 10x Pro Bowler with a Super Bowl ring, Wilson’s hometown roots add an emotional edge, while his recent 450-yard, three-touchdown gem against the Cowboys proves he still has elite arm talent at 36. Trading for Wilson—potentially for just a fifth-round pick and his modest salary—would be low-risk, high-reward insurance for the Bengals’ title aspirations, blending his pocket presence with Ja’Marr Chase’s explosiveness for an instant offensive spark.

    Play Calling…Still An Issue

With all of that said, even with a competent, Super Bowl winning QB like Russ Wilson, the Bengals have to get the play calling under control. It’s not a secret, and it can’t be hid — it’s terrible again. Fix it, Zac Taylor, or getting a QB means nada.

Paying up a 5th round pick when the Bengals can’t draft for shxt, literally, is well worth it. The Giants should be all over that, and it could genuinely save Duke Tobin’s face with the fanbase. Why the hell would we trade for Jameis Winston, a career backup, when Russell Wilson is and should be just as available? Make the trade. The division is WIDE open, and if you believe Joe Burrow will be back in December like folks say, it’s a NO BRAINER.
