According to Jon Heyman, the Cincinnati Reds were the winners of the Amed Rosario sweepstakes. Amed signed with the Tampa Bay Rays late in the year, some of which to be DFA’d. After he was DFA’d the first time, the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed him, and he was just recently DFA’d once again.
Amed’s 2024, so far..
Amed has posted 0.6 bWAR per Baseball Reference. When it comes to Fangraphs, they like him a little bit more; he’s posted 0.8 fWAR with the two teams he’s been with on the year, and has a very good 114 wRC+. How he’ll fit with the Cincinnati Reds remain unseen. Amed fits the Reds typical desires with his ability to play all over the diamond, albeit not very good at any particular position. He’s played his best in the infield.
Amed is more known for his abilities of bat to ball, he does not have a prosperous profile when it comes to power, but his xHR, should he of played each of his games in GABP, would be 4 instead of his 2 total on the season thus far. Amed is a much better fastball hitter than anything, which is something the Reds profile well in whole with. Regardless of outcome, this is a rental deal, and just another body to try to help an extremely lackluster Cincinnati offense.
