The Cincinnati Reds have officially given the orders to promote one of the organization’s brightest young hitters, calling up outfielder Héctor Rodríguez to make his long-awaited Major League debut.
After spending the season terrorizing Triple-A pitching with the Louisville Bats, Rodríguez now gets his opportunity to prove he belongs at the highest level. The 22-year-old enters the big leagues as one of Cincinnati’s top prospects and one of the most polished pure hitters in the organization.

He recently reminded everyone why he deserved the call, collecting four hits—including his 27th home run of the season—for Triple-A Louisville. He also has a 123 wRC+ which would be a welcoming sight for the Redlegs.

Rodríguez joined the Reds organization in July 2022 as part of the trade that sent Tyler Naquin to the New York Mets.
At the time, he was viewed as an intriguing young bat with plenty of upside. Four years later, he’s developed into one of Cincinnati’s premier offensive prospects thanks to his elite bat-to-ball skills, improving power, and ability to consistently square up baseballs.
While scouts have long praised his hitting ability, his power surge throughout 2026 has elevated his ceiling even further. He’s up to a whopping 27 homers in AAA. That will certainly play at Great American Ballpark!
What role will he play?
With the Reds looking toward the future, Rodríguez should receive every opportunity to establish himself in the lineup.
His left-handed bat gives manager Terry Francona another offensive weapon, and he has experience playing both corner outfield spots while also providing flexibility as a designated hitter.
