NEWS: Hunter Greene Injury Update

Hunter Greene started off Cincinnati Reds camp with a jump scare, a real one, and one that will require a procedure like we all thought. He’s going to miss some time, significant time at that, but will be back right when the Reds will need him. He’s going to be out until at LEAST late June, per reports. First, the Good News on Hunter Greene

Hunter dodged a massive bullet, the pain in his elbow is from bone spurs, NOT UCL damage, which would have been the biggest issue (Tommy John) – with this said, he’s undergoing a procedure tomorrow (Wednesday, March 11th) to remove these bone spurs, per Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer. This is not considered a major procedure, however, he’ll still be under the needle and will need adequate time to build back up.

Last, the Bad News on Hunter Greene

Hopefully you haven’t had your fantasy drafts just yet, because boy oh boy. Another year, another year of Hunter Greene making less than 20 starts. It is what it is. This procedure will keep him out of baseball activity for at least 2 months, he will end up picking back up in May if all things go according to plan, pitching in games by June, and back by early to mid July.

I know Hunter is starting to wear on some Reds fans, but truthfully guys, have some grace. This kid doesn’t want to miss time. He’s an ultimate competitor, you can feel it in his interviews, feel it on the mound…he hates missing time more than we hate him missing time, trust. Let’s hope he can come back in late June and beat the timetable currently out, and help the Cincinnati Reds secure the NL Central Division Title and go on and advance in the playoffs for once in my life. Get better soon, Hunter.
