Anyone that knows Nati Sports or follows us knows we’re a big fan of Nick Senzel. He’s a good dude, has an awesome family, and was one of the more hyped prospects in the Reds modern era. Unfortunately, things never worked out, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still support or write about him.

Nick Senzel Signs with Lexington Legends

Senzel is coming back home. Well, kinda. He’s a Tennessee native, Knoxville to be precise, so he’s going to be real close. Nick signed a deal with the Lexington Legends over the Memorial Day weekend and will begin play with that franchise shortly. The Legends are one of the more prominent Independent League teams and have had several former big leaguers play there.

The Legends have a pretty sweet stadium, too, right in the heart of Lexington, KY. I feel like their stadium is a little ‘big leaugue’ for the independent league, but nothing wrong with nice amenities.

Senzel’s previous stops after the Reds

Senzel has been all over the place, including the Mexican professional league, since his last Reds tenure. He briefly had a stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the minor leagues, played his last MLB stint with the Chicago White Sox, and now he lands himself in Independent ball. Senzel has grossed over $8,000,000 in career earnings, so there’s no denying his love for the sport. One can’t imagine him ‘needing’ to play, by any means. Best of luck, Nick!!
