Here we go folks… postseason baseball for your Cincinnati Reds. Hunter Greene goes for the Reds tonight, opposed by Blake Snell for the Dodgers. Greene, the Reds ace, returns to his hometown of Los Angeles against Snell, who last year no-hit the Reds as a member of the Giants.
1-0 Los Angeles (Bottom 1st)
Shohei Ohtani is good. Like really good. Like winning yet another MVP this year good. And he showed it to start the game off for the Dodgers on a line-drive blast to make it 1-0. It was the fastest pitch Ohtani has ever hit a HR off of, coming in at 100.4 MPH. Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez would both reach base in the 1st, but Greene was able to prevent any further damage.
5-0 Los Angeles (Bottom 3rd)
SHIT… Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman are also really good. Hernandez hammered a no-doubt HR to LF with two men on to make it 4-0. Then Tommy Edman went back to back with him by pulling a ball deep down the RF line to increase the lead to five. To this point the Reds have 1 hit, drawn 1 walk, and struckout 4 times. Not the start you would have asked for thats for sure.
Still 5-0 Los Angeles (Middle 5th)
Just wanted to check in to let you know the Reds still only had 1 hit, 1 walk, and have now struck out 7 times. Oh and Hunter Greene only got through 3 innings after giving up 5 earned. I’ll be back, hopefully with good news, but it has been zero fun for Reds fans watching the game, the only highlight being this sunglasses wearing dog:
6-0 Los Angeles (Bottom 5th)
Who am I kidding? Of course I’m not back with good news. Teoscar Hernandez hit his second HR of the night off Cincy’s 3rd pitcher of the night, Connor Phillips, extending the lead to six. Which for the Reds offense might as well be 60-0. I’m sad…
8-0 Los Angeles (Bottom 6th)
Just fucking end it man… Shohei, the best player in baseball, and perhaps the G.O.A.T in MLB history at this rate, hit another HR. It was a 2-run bomb to deep right CF, an absolute no-doubter off the bat. Then Phillips hit Mookie, Freddie Freeman hit a ground rule double, but Max Muncy struckout to leave them stranded. I’m gonna stop saying hopefully I’ll be back with good news. At this point I just don’t want anymore bad updates.
8-2 Los Angeles (Top 7th)
WE SCORED!!! Austin Hays and Spencer Steer hit singles, putting guys on 1st and 3rd. Then Elly De La Cruz grounded into a FC that he beat out at 1st to drive in the first run. Tyler Stephenson followed that up with a roped double down the LF line to drive in a second run. It was the Reds first runs scored since a Shin Soo Choo solo HR against Pittsburgh in 2013. I’m going to include that HR to let us reminisce about those good old days. And because I haven’t seen anyone tweet it to post on here.
10-2 Los Angeles (Bottom 7th)
I don’t want to be here anymore… Right after getting just a teeny tiny bit of momentum, LA answered right back. Alex Call pinch hit, singled ro right and Noelvi Marte tried to throw out the runner going to third. Unfortunately for him, the throw went into the Reds dugout and allowed a run to score on the error. Then Ben Rortvedt singled Call home to give the Dodgers an 8 run lead again. The Dodgers are just relentless.
10-5 Los Angeles (Top 8th)
Man that was almost fun wasn’t it? All nine batters came to the plate, and Cincinnati had the bases loaded for 5 at-bats, but only came away with 3 runs. Los Angeles pitching helped out by walking 4 batters in the inning because Steer was the only hit to drive a run in with a hit. Lots of really good AB’s, making the Dodgers use 3 pitchers in the inning which is nice for tomorrow. But at the end of the day they just couldn’t come up with that one big hit.
10-5 Los Angeles (Final)
I guess it could have been worse. The Reds clawed back to make the final score look better than it was, but it never really felt like they were going to win this game. Blake Snell shoved, the Dodgers hit a bunch of HRs and the Reds offense was nowhere to be found for most of the game. All things that make sense for how this season has gone. Tomorrow night we get to face Yoshinobu Yamamoto for the Dodgers, who will face Zack Littell. So the postseason was fun while it lasted. See you again tomorrow night I guess.
